If you are someone who is suffering from dandruff and have tried and surfed through a number of websites to find the solution, you’re not alone. Dandruff is a scalp condition that millions of people suffer with and with the right kind of home remedies and beauty routines, you can get rid of it in the comfort of your home. While it may just sound like a scalp condition, severe dandruff can do end up lowering people’s self-esteem which is why it’s important to treat it at the very start and not let it get worse over a period of time.

1. Tea Tree Oil:

This is the holy grail of beauty remedies and if you’ve not already invested in a bottle of tea tree oil, it’s time you do it now. Tea tree oil has been used in traditional medicines and its history is enough to prove that it does actually work. It has healing properties that deal with fungal infections and skin issues making it a perfect ingredient to deal with dandruff. As an added bonus, if you have tea tree oil in your cabinet, you can also use it to avoid acne. So, that’s a win-win!

How to:

Tea tree oil is always a concentrate that needs to be diluted first in carrier oils like coconut because the skin on the scalp is more sensitive compared to the rest of your body. Make sure to use the 2-3 drops of tea tree oil in 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil and yes, this much is enough to treat dandruff. Make sure to use the concoction on your hair weekly once and you’ll see the difference. You can also use tea tree infused hair products for maximum results.

2. Neem:

1. Crush 30-40 clean neem leaves into a paste and mix it with coconut oil to create a smooth paste.

2. Leave it to soak for about 30-40 minutes.

3. Now, you can either use the lumpy mixture directly on your scalp or if you do not like the texture, strain the oil to get a neem infused mixture. You can even store the infused oil and use it every week for added benefits.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar:

While expensive products and home remedies do help in reducing dandruff, sometimes all you need is a good pH balancing hair rinse to do the trick. Apple cider vinegar is known to be a miracle ingredient that helps in dealing with dead skin cells making it another great ingredient to deal with dandruff.

All you need to do is take a tablespoon of ACV and mix it in a mug full of water. Run it over your hair and leave it on for 5-10 minutes. Rinse with normal water and you’ll be good to go! As an added bonus, ACV also helps in adding a natural lustre to your hair.
