We become extra careful with our skin care during summers and winters. While the summers bring the scorching heat along and the winters bring flakey, dry skin, it’s the monsoon season that we tend to forget! In the Monsoons, we experience severe humidity, sweat, heat as well as dampness and moisture. This fluctuating weather makes our skin feel like an oil well and for some people with combination skin, it may start looking dull and dry. While your skin is constantly getting affected by the changing weather, it gets worse once you enter the winters.

Monsoons, in particular, can also cause fungal infections and acne. So to keep your skin health consistent and help with the changing weather, it is necessary to take care of it all year round. Here are a few face masks that can help you achieve the skin of your dreams even during the rainy season:


Oatmeal | Rose Water | Honey | Curd

In a bowl, mix together 3 tsp. oatmeal, 1 tbsp. rose water and 1 tsp. each of honey and curd. Mix it well and make it into a smooth paste. Apply it on the skin and wash it off after half an hour. The oatmeal will absorb all the excess oil from the skin while the rose water will soothe the aggravated spots and will refresh the skin. Curd is full of good bacteria that helps your skin glow by nourishing it from within and lastly, honey will help to keep it moisturised.


Besan | Turmeric | Lemon | Rose Water

Mix one teaspoon of gram powder (besan) with a pinch of turmeric. Squeeze in 2-3 drops of lemon juice and add 1-2 tsp. of rose water to make a paste. Apply the pack on your face and neck and rinse it off after 15 minutes.

Here, besan aka gram flour soothes inflamed skin. It has also been shown to fight the infections that cause your face to erupt with acne. Lemon juice is filled with vitamin C that helps motivate your pores to close and your face to tighten resulting in smoother skin. Lastly, turmeric gives you a natural, healthy glow resulting in a flawless skin.


Fresh Fruits

In a bowl, place a 1inch piece each of banana, apple, peach, 1 strawberry (or add any fruits of your choice) and 1 tsp honey. You can mash them with a fork or mix them in a blender. Make sure the paste is of a smooth consistency and do not have lumps. Apply it on the skin for 15 minutes and rinse it off with normal water. It makes the skin firm and removes fine lines, scars, and blemishes. The fruits also contain elements that are anti-inflammatory. Therefore, it relaxes and soothes acne-prone skin.


Fuller’s Earth | Rose Water

This pack is best suited for those with oily/ combination skin. Those with dry skin may give this a miss. This two-ingredient pack will help you get rid off the oily layer on the skin while toning and refreshing it. Alternately, if you have dry skin and still want to use it, make sure you use a good moisturiser once you have washed it off.


Sandalwood | Turmeric

Just take 1 tbsp sandalwood powder and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder in a bowl. Make a thick paste with rose water and apply on face and neck. Wash off after 10 minutes. This pack will help you to remove excess oil from the skin, giving you a refreshed and glowing skin.
