Are you constantly worried about the excess oil on your skin and constant acne? Are your pores constantly clogged and does getting rid of dirt pose as a big problem? The one thing standing in between clear skin is nothing but just one ingredient that you are not including in your skincare routine.

"Toner is one skin ingredient which is absolutely necessary for those with oily and acne prone skin. It helps the skin shed all the skin products and lumpiness and allows the skin to breathe again. The toner is an essential ingredient for smooth and supple skin and should be added to the daily skincare routine. It helps in deconstructing all the dirt and grime, paving way for fresh and clear skin," advises Kritika Pandey, a dermatologist.  But that's not all! Some of the other uses of toners include:

Restores the pH balance of your skin

Skin typically has a pH level of 5-6 but this can get out of hand due to the nature of soap and other products we constantly use. At this time, your skin tends to work overtime to get to its normal level again. Using a toner can help bring it back to its natural form.

It closes and shrinks pores

Continuous application of toner on the skin with the help of a cotton ball helps remove oil and grime, giving an appearance of smaller pores on the face.

It refreshes the skin

When you are on the go, it helps your skin revitalise and can also be used instead of washing your face when it is too oily or dirty.

It reduces ingrowth of facial hair

If you often wax or thread your face, you must be experiencing ingrowth hair. But most toners contain glycolic acid or other hydroxy acids which help minimalise and even prevent ingrowth.

It acts as protection for the skin

Once you apply a toner on your face, it closes up the pores and reduces the level of impurities trying to penetrate into the skin.
