Your skin is one of the most important things that need caring. From daily cleansing to proper moisturisation, it requires the utmost pampering. While we are all for taking care of the skin, there are certain things that we do wrong. These wrongdoings are often done without realising and after a long period of time, it starts taking a toll on the skin. So, we spoke to Celebrity Cosmetic Dermatologist and asked her about all the skincare mistakes we tend to make. Here are the mistakes she pointed out to us. Check it out

‘Not using the products according to the skin type’

This is one of the biggest mistakes people tend to make. While there are some products that say ‘For all skin types’, it is the worst mistake you could be making if you believe that. Not all skin types are the same and so, the products needed to be used should not be the same either. Oily skin requires products that do not cause acne and clogged pores while dry skin needs to retain moisture. If the product used is a universal one, it will just worsen the condition of the skin which could result in numerous skin conditions.

‘Using products which have crossed the expiry dates’

Just like the food in your fridge, your skincare products also expire. Many of us do not realise that even our skincare products expire even if they look and smell perfectly fine. An expired product will not hurt or damage the skin at the first use, but over a period of time and exposure to air and water, it may end up giving you skin rashes and bacterial infection.

‘Forgetting to use sunscreen’

Sunscreen is one of the most important steps in any skincare routine. It is important to wear sunscreen even when you are inside the house. Harmful UV rays of the Sun ends up affecting the skin. Over a period of time, sun-exposed skin can gradually lose moisture and essential oils, making it appear dry, flaky and prematurely wrinkled, even in younger people. So, make sure you're not missing out on sunscreen every day.

‘Forgetting to cleanse the face and not removing the makeup at night’

Makeup is one of the best things that help make you look beautiful while enhancing your self-confidence. But, this can turn around very easily if this makeup is not removed. If the face is not cleaned properly, the leftover makeup residue tends to clog pores, cause breakouts, and accelerate the ageing process.
