Hormonal acne is the reaction your body takes from all the hormonal ups and downs it faces before the period starts. While some of them are blessed with good skin and great hormones and none of the changes affects them, others tend to have the worst time of their life before the period starts. Tiny zits and pimples on the forehead and chin are accounts of these chemical reactions in the body. While these changes are a regular occurrence, there are only a few things you can do to deal with it.
So, here we have 4 natural ways to deal with hormonal acne:
Do not skip the skincare routine
When your period date is close, the skin tends to get oily and produce a lot of sebum. This ends up clogging the pores making it very easy for pimples and zits to pop up. So, make sure you do not forget to wash the face and not do not skip on the skincare routine because prevention is always better than cure, right?
Cut back on dairy
Drinking or consuming animal products especially milk contains hormones in a high quantity. This just causes more hormonal imbalances with animal hormones reacting with the hormones of the body making the skin prone to reaction. Two large studies have also reported that higher levels of milk consumption were associated with acne.
Stay away from stressful situations
We know that someone asking you to not take stress is one of the most annoying things ever. However, if you are looking to reduce your acne that is probably the way to go. The hormones released during periods of stress may increase sebum production and skin inflammation, making acne worse. Stressful situations also release a hormone called cortisol that causes hormonal imbalance in the body and lead to acne.
Drink Green Tea
Green tea reduces inflammation in the body to reduce acne. It also flushes out all the toxins from the body leaving it clean and healthy. Green tea also contains theanine, a compound which reduces the release of cortisol (a stress hormone). On top of consuming a few cups of green tea, you can also use the used-tea bags on the skin to soothe the inflammation.
