Everyone is born with a different skin type. From oily to dry and combination, a lot of factors affect how your skin reacts to it. Hormonal and climate changes can be one of the greatest reasons for your skin acting out. However, if you are someone who is just born with it, it is imperative to learn how to take care of it. If you have oily skin, you cannot use a universal skincare routine but, need to pamper it in a different way. One of the major problems for oily skin is makeup. The makeup products tend to clog the pores after getting mixed with the natural oils. So, to do it right and not look like a greasy mess, here are some simple changes you can make in your usual makeup routine.

Cleansing and Moisturising

One of the most important things for oily skin is to cleanse it right. You do not need a harsh cleanser but, you need to remove all the excess oil from the skin. Now, if you think that you have oily skin and you can skip moisturiser, it is a complete no. no matter how oily your skin is, you need to moisturise. The moisturiser will ensure that your oil aka sebum glands do not go on overdrive and produce more oil to compensate.

Primer

Primer is basically a different kind of moisturiser. If you feel that you do not need to prime the face, just skip it. Or, you can also spot apply your primer on places you know you will need more layers of makeup.

Foundation

Foundation easily clogs your pores if not applied in the right manner. If you have oily skin, make sure to use a mattifying foundation or a powder-based one that you usually apply with a sponge. This will not make your face look greasy and will ensure to keep it matte throughout the day. Make sure you dab the product on the face and not drag it around. Dragging will only make oils travel from one area to the other and mix with the product making it greasier.

Chose wisely

One of the most important things to do is to choose the makeup wisely. If a product works well for your friend, it does not mean it will work for you. Jelly or lightweight balms are easier to apply and seep right into the skin rather than powdered blushes and contours that sit on top. Also, if you have oily skin, the greasiness is enough to add a sheen to your skin, stay away from highlighters that could just make your skin look worse.
