Winter is just around the corner and that means we need a major upgrade in our wardrobe. While clothes protect us from the outside, we often forget about our body. Yes, winter not only calls for us pulling out our sweaters and pullovers, it also means that our skin needs extra care and protection. The winter air is such that it leaves our hair frizzy, skin dry and lips super chapped, to name a few problems. In fact if we tell you the truth then maybe all that you’ve been practising for your body throughout the past winters might not even be the right thing for your body.


Yes, this isn’t to scare you but to ring the red alarm so that you are more aware of how you are treating your body and what you’re putting on it. Winter is the only time when your skin gets that extra blush and glow if you pamper it right.


Listed below are a few tips that you DEFINITELY need to try out this winter to get that radiating glow from head to toe.



1 .Basic note, drink a LOT of water.

Yes, we all know that during winters our water intake becomes extremely less given the chilly winds. However, your skin needs to feel hydrated from within. When you drink a lot of water, you avoid you skin from becoming dry and getting chapped. Warm water with some lime and honey is a major boon to anyone’s skin and the internal body system. Practise this throughout the cold weather and you’ll see an instant change.


2. Make your moisturiser your Best Friend

Your moisturizer should be with you day in and day out. Make sure you’re covering your skin with loads of moisturiser as it’ll prevent the skin from getting dry. What is really important is that you are picking the right moisturiser for your skin. Our skin type ranges from dry to oily and everything in between, so choose your moisturiser carefully. Feel fry to add dollops of cream on your skin when you’re off to bed.



3. Carry your lip balm wherever you go

We all know how dry our lips get during winters. They become extremely flaky and sometimes it gets so bad that it starts burning all around our mouth. Make sure that you always keep a lip balm handy. Also, make sure that you avoid using any matte lipsticks, instead use a lip gloss.


4. Our feet tends to get extremely dry and it also tends to develop cracks. In such a situation it is best that you put your feet in a lukewarm tub of water with either salt or oil in it. Keep your feet soaked in for about 10 minutes, pat dry and moisturise. If possible wear socks when your go to bed.


5. You should never give up on sunscreen

All because it is winter, it does not mean that the sun’s hidden in some corner. A sunscreen is a basic staple. Make sure whenever you step out you always a sunscreen of a good SPF.



6. Avoid a super hot bath

As much as tempting as it gets avoid a super hot super because it leaves our skin extremely dry as soon as we get out of the shower. Its advisable to stick to lukewarm water and shower for not more than 5-10 minutes.


7. Alcohol based products are a big no

Alcohol based products tends to dehydrate our skin making it dry and dull. Rather opt for oil based products as they’ll infuse moisture and keep your skin smooth. Aloe vera, honeys, almond oil are highly recommended during winters.
