Maintaining the shine and volume of your hair can be a task sometimes. Pollution, stress, and unhealthy lifestyle can make it more difficult to maintain the shine of the hair. Achieving a thick, bouncy and shiny hair is a dream of every girl. To maintain the health of your hair, you need to eat right, sleep right and use the right products for your hair. If you are someone who wants to manage the health of your hair at home, then here are some tips that'll help you with it. These tips will help you and your hair shine.

Deal with wet hair carefully:

Wet hair is delicate and breaks easily. When wet, the shaft and the roots of your hair are more prone to sustaining damage. Don’t be too harsh when shampooing. And avoid brushing immediately after a shower.

Conditioner is a must:

Using a conditioner after every wash is a must. And not only applying conditioner can make your hair frizzy. Conditioners are formed to seal in the moisture in the hair stem and are not meant for the scalp. Start conditioning 2 inches away from your scalp. Since too much conditioner on the scalp will make it excessively oily.

Don't overheat your hair:

Use iron/curl straighteners only if necessary. This heat strips the moisture from your hair making it dry and frizzy. When overused, it can also burn your hair. When using an iron/curl, remember to use a hair protectant before.

Sleep on a satin pillow:

Sleeping on a satin pillow is known to reduce hair breakage due to friction. Cotton and other materials are quite rough in texture. Due to which they also cause more friction against your hair.

Use oil frequently:

Oiling your hair frequently is good for your scalp. After oiling your hair, use a mild shampoo to get rid of the oil. However, don't apply too much oil. Dripping oil from your hair will need you to use more shampoo, which strips out more of your natural oils no matter how mild it is.

Here are some homemade remedies that you can use to add shine to your hair.

Use banana for healthy hair:

Bananas contain silica, which helps your body to manufacture collagen, which can make your hair stronger and thicker. A banana hair mask can also reportedly moisturize your hair and help relieve a dry, itchy scalp. Take two ripe bananas and a half cup of coconut milk and blend them well. Apply the mixture on your hair and let it sit for 30 minutes, then wash the mask out of your hair.

Use lemon for itchy scalp:

Use a lemon juice and olive oil mixture to bid goodbye to itchy scalp. The acidity in the lemon juice helps free your scalp of any loose, dry flakes of skin, while the olive oil moisturizes the skin on your head. Blend 2 tbsp each of lemon juice, olive oil and water and massage into damp scalp. Let the mixture sit for 15-20 minutes, then rinse and shampoo hair.

Coconut oil for strengthening your hair:

Coconut oil is one of the most useful oils in the world. It can be used for cooking, cleaning and conditioning your hair. Lauric acid in coconut oil allows it to be more easily absorbed into the hair stem, making it a first choice for reducing protein loss from sun exposure or chemical treatment. Massage 2 tbsp coconut oil from your roots to your ends and let it sit for 5 minutes before a shower. Rinse it off with normal shampoo and conditioner.
