Dry hair and oily hair happen because of pollution, stress, and other issues. And can be treated with time. But one thing that recurs with time is split ends. Everyone has split ends, and they tend to spoil the texture of the hair. They not only cause hair breakage, but they also contribute to dry hair. They make the hair look extremely brittle and weak. Split ends have become common and are caused by multiple reasons.

Over-washing your hair, exposure of hair to excessive heat, dust and pollution, irregular oiling of hair, washing your hair with hot water and chemical treatments including perming and hair colouring causes split ends. Usually, we think that the only remedy to split ends is a haircut, but that's not the case always. If you are someone who has split ends but cannot get a haircut now and then, then here are some remedies that you can use to get rid of split ends naturally.

Here are some home remedies for split ends:

1. Egg yolks

Eggs are the best for hair. They help cure your frizzy hair and give them shine and bounce. And here instead of using whites, use egg yolks for split ends. It has an adequate amount of protein that strengthens the strands of your hair and prevents any split ends.

In a bowl, mix 2 eggs yolks with 2 tbsp each of olive oil, almond oil and honey. Apply this mask and keep it for 30 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water.

2. Honey

Honey is great when it comes to hair care since it prevents loss of moisture from the scalp and also prevents split ends as it strengthens the hair follicles. And it further keeps the hair scalp clean due to its antibacterial properties.

In a bowl, take 3 tbsp of honey, some curd, and olive oil. Mix them well together and apply the mixture on your hair and let it sit for 25 minutes before washing it off.

3. Chamomile

Chamomile works wonders for dry and frizzy hair. Its antiseptic properties remove the dead cells, and regular use of chamomile helps to prevent split ends as it keeps the hair scalp and hair clean.

Boil some water and add 2 tea bags of chamomile tea. Once boiled, let it cool for a while. Once the water has extracted its elements, rinse your hair using this water.

4. Papaya

Papaya consists of folic acid and it helps in improving the blood circulation in your scalp and hair. It has vitamin A and helps to keep your scalp and hair follicles moisturised, and prevents split ends and frizzy hair. In a blender, take some pieces of raw papaya and yoghurt.

Make a thick paste and apply it on your hair and let it sit for 40 minutes. Wash it off using cold water.

5. Coconut oil

This is the most common recipe to prevent split ends. It helps in smoothing your hair and remove the dirt present on the scalp.

Just massage your hair with warm coconut oil and keep it for about 1-2 hours and wash it with water.

6. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is excellent for damaged hair and split ends. It has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that keep your scalp cool and away from dirt, further promoting healthy hair growth.

Extract some gel from 2-3 aloe vera leaves and apply it on your hair. It may be sticky and messy but worth it. Keep the gel for about 30-40 minutes and rinse it off.
