When it comes to following a set beauty regime, one thing that's common with every beauty regime is hair removal. Hair removal is a painful procedure and especially for people with dense hair growth. Our heart skips a beat every time a section of our hair is pulled with that nasty wax trip from our body. It's an essential part of grooming, but it's also a girl's least favourite thing to do. Apart from bikini waxing, the most painful part of hair removal is armpits. They are the pain central, darkened skin and bumpiness are some of our biggest woes when it comes to this area.

But then for the love of those tank tops, spaghetti tops, and dresses and for our hygiene- we cannot help but get rid of that armpit hair. And whether you are into waxing or shaving, these are some dos and don'ts that you need to keep in mind for underarm hair removal. These tips will make the experience easier and leave you with way smoother pits.

Clean before removing the hair:

As a part of the preparation, wash your underarms with mild soap and warm water before removing the hair. It should be done because underarms produce a lot more sweat than the rest of your body and this could hamper the effectiveness of your wax or shave.

Don't forget to exfoliate:

Be it for skin or underarm exfoliation is necessary. It helps to get rid of impurities and loosens hair follicles, making it easier for the hair to come out. It will help reduce the pain of waxing too.

Do consider wash and dry:

When it comes to wax, it won't stick to sweaty underarms. So makes sure to dry your armpits and apply some talcum powder to absorb the sweat. Apart from this, avoid removing underarm hair from dry armpits, it can cause friction and irritation.

Don't wax/shave in the wrong direction:

This one is the most important part. Shaving in the opposite direction helps with a better shave, but if you have sensitive skin, you may want to avoid this to prevent irritation. You can shave in the same direction of growth. When it comes to waxing, apply a thin layer of wax, then pull the strip in the opposite direction of hair growth to get rid of all the hair.

Apply a cooling agent right after hair removal:

Apply ice, moisturizer or aloe vera after cleaning underarms to soothe the area even after a shave. It’s a good idea to exfoliate the area mildly after 24 hours to prevent annoying ingrown hair.

Don't apply deodorants for a couple of days:

To avoid irritation and burning sensation, stay away from deos and antiperspirants for a day or two.

Yes, it is a painful process, but do keep these things in mind and enjoy a supple armpit while wearing your favourite sleeveless dress.
