An idea that is commonly shrugged off and considered too gross, is facial hair in women. All humans both male and female have facial hair. In men it tends to be more visible since it is thicker and darker. Women on the other hand have finer more lighter colour hair on their face which tends to blend in with the skin. However, in some women, the growth is extremely coarse due to high level of production of androgens.

"It is normal for both men and women to have hair on their face. Getting rid of fine hair is relatively easy but thick hair requires more extreme and harsh methods that could damage the skin," warns Suman Nayak, a Bengaluru-based skin expert.

This could be caused due to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS which is an adrenaline gland disorder. The condition where there is excessive hair growth on the face is know as hirsutism. There are simple ways to get rid of this using natural methods. They include:

Lemon and Honey

This is a home-made waxing alternative for getting rid of facial hair in an easy yet effective way. For this to work, you need,
2 spoons sugar
1 spoon honey
2 spoons lemon juice.
Mix this well till it forms a paste and then apply it on the face where hair growth is present. With the help of a waxing strip, pull out the hair in the opposite direction. Since this is natural wax, it is less harmful for the skin and the kitchen ingredients have moisturising properties which help the skin remain soft.

Egg White

Full of protein, egg whites are sticky and their face mask helps in eradicating the finest of hair from the face. All you need to do is, separate the yolk of one egg from its white and place it in a bowl.
Add a spoon of cornstarch and sugar to this and beat it until it forms a smooth mixture. Apply this on your face and let it sit for 20 minutes.
Once the mask has dried, peel it off quickly and rinse your face with cold water.

Turmeric and Papaya

Papaya contains a bio-active enzyme called papain which helps in enlarging the hair follicle and also acts as a natural exfoliant to the skin. Turmeric on the other hand not just exfoliates but also brightens the skin.
All you need to do is peel the papaya and mash it into a fine paste. Add a spoon of turmeric powder and mix it well.
Massage this on the areas of your face where there is excessive growth and leave it on for 20 minutes. Then wash it off.

Sugar and Lemon

When warmed up, sugar tends to melt and stick to the hair. Lemon on the other hand is a natural bleaching agent and lightens the skin tone. For this remedy, mis 2 spoons of sugar with lemon juice and 10  spoons water. Heat it and set aside.
Apply this on the hair on your face and let it dry. Then just wash off with cold water.

Gelatin

Another great ingredient for eradication of hair, all you need to do is mix 1 spoon gelatin with half a spoon of milk and 3 drops of any essential oil.
Heat this in the microwave for not more than 10 seconds and while it is still hot, apply it on the areas of your face with hair. Once it dries, peel it off.
