Mumbai rains: Easy hair care remedies after getting drenched in the heavy downpour

As it is already established that the happy monsoons are finally in the bay. After the scorching and super dry summers, rains are here and it is a sign of major relief. The rains are synonym to happiness, smile, love, fun and a lot of lip-smacking hot and delicious food items. The feeling of getting drenched in the hair with our hands wide open in SRK-style is something that cannot be described.

As you step out in the rain, the child in you comes to life and you live that feeling to the fullest. Most of us already have a song playing in the back of our mind and we believe that we’re the new age Deepika and Kareena in the moment. While all of this sound mad fun what follows after that is an equal nightmare.

Of course we’ve all been through it. You come back home drenched and shivering from head to toe. However, in the midst of all this, it’s not the water droplets that drop off your hair, it’s actually your ‘now’ tangled locks that is crying out in pain. But don’t you worry dear friend, as always we’ve got your back. Listed below are simple tips that you must remember in order to pamper your hair once you’ve gotten wet in the rain.

Clean your hair

This is an extremely important step for healthy and clean hair. Given that all of us reside in cities, the rains are usually mixed with pollutants and toxins which can be very damaging. That is why, as soon as you get home, make sure you wash your hair with a mild shampoo so that all the toxins and pollutants are washed out.

Another alternate which dates back to the ancient Indian household is Neem. Soak some neem in lukewarm water. Now wash your hair with that very water. As Neem has antifungal properties, it will take away all the dirt from your hair, will keep your hair dandruff free and keep your scalp away from any fungal infection.

For all of you who do not have access to neem, we suggest you opt for a shampoo which has neem in it.

Proper conditioning is a must

In this weather particularly, conditioning is a must. If you leave your hair unconditioned then be prepared to have frizzy hair. You sure can use a mild conditioner which specificalises in taming frizzy hair. If not, then we suggest you make a hair mask of eggs and yoghurt. Or you can make a hair mask out of eggs and olive oil. Apply it on your hair, leave it on for half an hour to one hour and wash it off with a mild shampoo.

Proper drying of hair

This is the most important part in the entire hair regime. The best way to soak off all the water from your hair is by using a cotton t-shirt rather than a towel. Do not tie your hair no matter and let it dry. If you want to blow dry your hair, you can go ahead with it but make sure that you are not doing this too often as it’ll start weakening your hair.

Simple haircut

This one is sure to change and make your hair better on many grounds. Regular haircuts and trimming is a must for your hair. Avoid opting for bangs or fringes as they are extremely difficult to manage especially in this weather. Opt for layers if you’re looking for volume, however, we’d recommend you to just opt for a regular hair trim.

Avoid using any hair treatment

Monsoon is the worst season to get any hair styling treatment done. From smoothing to keratin to straightening, all of these will make your hair from bad to worse. As we all know that the maintenance of these treatments are really high and this weather doesn’t really give us the luxury to do so. Hold on for a while and get all your desired hair treatment during winters.

The health of your hair solely depends on you. It’s high time that you stop acting lazy and get on treating your hair with a lot of care. The above mentioned tips are super easy to execute and they’re going to do wonders if you use them without fail on a regular basis.
