Cannes 2026: Alia Bhatt brings desi glamour to film festival in custom Tarun Tahiliani ivory silhouette with nose ring
Alia Bhatt channelized her inner desi diva as she stepped out for the inauguration of the Bharat Pavillion at Cannes 2026. This is her third look from the coveted film festival.
Alia Bhatt has been serving looks after looks at the 79th Cannes Film Festival. After making her red carpet debut for this year in a custom Tamara Ralph peach haute couture with an internet-breaking chiffon dupatta, she stunned in a saree-inspired gown by a celebrated Indian designer for the inauguration of the Bharat Pavilion at the French Riviera.

For her third appearance at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, Alia Bhatt traded modern couture for a masterclass in Indian craftsmanship. She stepped out in a custom-made saree gown by the maestro, Tarun Tahiliani.
This time, the National Award-winning actress channelised her inner desi diva and flaunted her roots for her final look of the day. The outfit featured a seamless blend of a structured corset and the fluid grace of a saree. It featured a custom draped ivory chanderi material dhoti skirt and a soft sculpted corset.
Adding his signature modern India touch to her ensemble, the attire was crafted from delicate, hand-woven silk tissue in shades of burnished gold and ivory. The silhouette perfectly balanced the drama of a head-turning gown with the timeless elegance of a saree.
While the outfit was a showstopper, it was Alia’s choice of traditional Indian jewellery that truly elevated the look. She adorned her hands with a pair of vintage-inspired haathphool with small pearl droppings. Ranbir Kapoor’s fashionista wife, actress Alia, opted for a delicate, minimalist nath (nose ring) and a tiny pearl bindi, making a bold desi statement internationally.
In a clip posted on her social media handle, she happily flaunted her traditional payal that elevated her look for the day. Coming to her earrings, since Rhea Kapoor styles the diva, she borrowed the earpieces from her mother, Sunita Kapoor, who is a fashion icon herself. She captioned the video, "feeling unapologetically filmy."
The Alpha actress let her well-put-together look do the talking and avoided any distractions by going with subtle pink-toned makeup, perfect for a summer everyday look. Be it bringing the humble capri back in style with her airport look or representing India at a global stage, Alia can do it all with perfection.
