Ace designer Marc Jacobs to launch a new affordable label: ‘The Marc Jacobs’

This is definitely a good year! 2019 pre-fall will see the launch of a new collection by Marc Jacobs. Unlike its runway counterpart, The Marc Jacobs will be available at a more affordable price point. Yes, you read it right!

 

Details about the collection are currently being kept under large wraps, but we’re expected to see rugby striped sweaters, wide-leg corduroy pants and accessories. Jacob has hired Russian stylist Lotta Volkova who has worked with fashion giants like Demna Gvasalia on Vetements and Balenciaga, for the new brand’s lookbook shot by Hugo Scott.

 

Back in 2015, the brand discontinued its most popular diffusion label, Marc by Marc Jacobs. Although its unknown as to whether the designer's new and more affordable offering will replicate the same aesthetic, but this is a great chance for those who missed the diffusion line.

 

This new initiative is the brainchild of the Chief Executive Officer Eric Marechalle, which is simply looking to restore a touch of that popular label's magic. The Marc Jacobs is being launched at a time as Jacob’s namesake brand struggles a little with sales decline, including the closing of stores, and even shocking rumours that he might leave his own label! Can this new label be the brand’s saving anchor?
