Beyonce and Jay Z accepted their BRIT award for Best International Artist (Group) for their album Everything Is Love, which they made together as The Carters. They made a powerful statement to support the latest member of the British royals - Meghan Markle, who was recently defended by a series of celebrities friends for constantly being under scrutiny from the media.

Though they were not physically present at the awards, they made a video appearance and recreated the iconic scene from their song Apeshit in which they stand at the Louvre in front of the Mona Lisa. This time though, the duo stood in front of a portrait of Meghan Markle. "Thank you so much to the Brit Awards for this incredible honour. You guys have been so supportive. Everything is love. Thank you," Beyonce says in the video, after which Jay Z jokingly says, "You're welcome." They then turned around to face Markle and admire her, after saying their thanks.

They are not the first one to defend the Duchess of Sussex. George Clooney previously defended her by saying she is "pursued and vilified" brutally especially by the press in the UK. The Duchess has been under constant scrutiny since she is biracial. Her entry into the royal family marked a new era for the monarchy in the country.

The internet obviously went into a frenzy once the video was released and began to wonder if the portrait of the royal was hung up in The Carter's house as a painting!

Oh just get over yourselves
