Social media shows no mercy towards racism, sexism or any other kind of injustice. Lately, a number of fashion brands have been facing a backlash for creating products that encourage racism. Off late, luxury brands like Prada, Gucci, Moncler and Dolce and Gabbana have been called out for being racist, post which the brands have pulled the particular products from sale and distribution.

More recently, Katy Perry's brand - Katy Perry Collections is next to be called out for racism. According to a TMZ report, her brand is pulling some of its shoes from sale after clients pointed out the resemblance to blackface. The Rue Face Slip On Loafers and Ora Face Block Heel Sandals, in particular, have faces with eyes and large red lips on the shoes since they seem to resemble blackface. The brand has also faced a backlash on Twitter with customers vowing to blacklist Perry and her brand as a whole!

"Ignorance is never a fashion statement," one user pointed out by posting a collage of all of the items from all the brands that had been called out for blackface.

Amidst these concerns, a source confirmed to TMZ that the items are being pulled off from sale, though it is not clear if only the two items in name will be removed or the entire line will be stopped. When questioned, Perry's brand chose not to comment on the matter.

What do you think of these shoes? Do they resemble blackface in any way? Let us know in the comment section below.
