The New York Fashion Week Fall 2018 is concluding today, February 16 and it was an extremely electrifying and buzzing display of fashion, ambience and trends. The New York Fashion Week reflected upon trends that have been around for the past two seasons and if that is the case, well then it is no more just a coincidence. The fashion week provided us with some ‘here to stay trends’ and we absolutely love it.

Mauve glam

This grown-up version of millennial pink made quite a splash at the runway. Dresses, gowns, trench coats, this colour pretty much swayed the fashion houses and is one top favourite colour of the season. Guess the blush is not leaving us anytime soon.

Skirt suit

To all the ‘Working Girl’ this style is sure to be a major staple for you this season and little over it as well. The skirt suit brings back vibes of the 80s. It is playful, flirtatious, feminine and modest. Where else can we find a combination like that? All things over-size is any way the flavour of the season. Pair your pleated midi skirt with an oversize single or double breasted blazer, put on your kitten heels and we have a fashionista walk into an office room right there. From Calvin Klein to Jason Wu to Gabriela Hearst everyone was swept away with this gracieux style.

Magenta

Last Fall 2017, it was ‘pink’ that raided the runway however, this time around it was someone from the same colour family that took the legacy further. Magenta flooded the fashion week this time around. The bright hue made its appearances in its various shades and tints. Romper, jumpsuits, scarves, pants, oversized sweaters, the colour was everywhere! Oscar de la Renta, Prabal Gurung, Alexander Wang, everyone was bowled over by magenta and it was pretty evident through their collection.

Bright Animal Prints

That two stark fashion elements when you think of 80s has to be bright shades and bold animal prints. Like we mentioned before the retro era was all over the runway for us to see. However, the bold and vibrant animal prints were blended with tapered and slender silhouettes. Caroline Herrera, Tom Ford, R13 were a few fashion houses who showcased this style.

Colourful tights

All you Gossip Girl fans rejoice as Blair Waldorf’s trademark colourful tights have made an official comeback on the runway. The trend was seen during the Fall 2017 as well, however, it was all the more prominent this time around. Be it pastel shades, bright yellows and oranges or reds, coloured stockings were flooded everywhere. Jeremy Scott, Adam Selman were designers to name a few who flaunted their bright side on the runway.

Victorian Era

The comeback of the Victorian era styles and silhouettes were heavily forecasted and well, our designers didn’t disappoint us. The runway saw outfits with fitted corset-like details and the iconic English ruffles. Jonathan Simkhai, Zimmerman were some of the designers who revived and brought back the legendary era back.

We are already obsessing over these trends. Comment and let us know which one was your favourite.
