Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are finally husband and wife. Hours before their wedding, Queen Elizabeth conferred Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with Dukedom and they will now have the titles Duke and Duchess of Sussex respectively. While Meghan bowled the World over with her simple and minimal princess-y Givenchy gown, it was her wedding reception look that melted everyone’s heart. For her wedding reception, the Duchess of Sussex donned a lily white, halter neck Stella McCartney gown; but what caught everyone’s eye was the ‘something blue’ ring that she wore on her finger.

Yes, as expected Prince Harry gifted his wife Meghan, an emerald cut Aquamarine cocktail ring from his late mother, Princess Diana’s jewelry collection. Diana had worn the same gemstone ring to an auction in 1997 to an auction of her own wardrobe. The emerald ring is actually part of a set which includes a bracelet featuring the stone set amid several strands of pearls. The other ‘something blue’ that Meghan wore were her Aquazurra heels which had baby blue soles. Interesting isn’t it?

It is royal tradition to gift your wife a piece from your mother’s jewelry collection. It is believed that Prince William gifted Kate Middleton a pair of diamond and sapphire earrings from his mother’s collection which was specially moulded for Kate. Prince Philip gave Queen Elizabeth a diamond bracelet which was made from stones from his mother’s tiara.

Not just that, Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, wears Princess Diana’s engagement ring. On the other hand, Meghan’s was designed by Prince Harry himself and the diamonds were too borrowed from Diana’s collection.

For her big day, Meghan looked nothing short of a fairytale princess wearing a gown by Clare Waight Keller from the house of Givenchy couture. Her wedding dress was a simple boat neck fit and flare gown which she styled with a long train with intricate embroidery on the border. She accentuated her look donning a tiara which is an heirloom piece from the Royal treasure.

Prince Harry and Meghan got engaged in 2017 and exchanged vows yesterday at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England. David Beckham along with wife Victoria Beckham, George and Amal Clooney, Serena Williams along with her husband, Priyanka Chopra to name a few; were celebrities amongst the 600 guests who were invited to the wedding ceremony.
