The annual event of glitter and glitz, pop music and lingerie show, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is undergoing a big new change. The spectacle event held every December, will no longer be aired on television after running either on ABC or CBS for the past two decades. The announcement was made on Friday, by Leslie Wexner, the Chief Executive of L Brand, Victoria’s Secret’s parent company. The brand is “taking a fresh new look at every aspect of our business and must evolve and change to grow,” he wrote in the release. Keeping that in mind, “we have decided to re-think the traditional Victoria’s Secret Fashion show. Going forward, we don’t believe network television is the right fit,” he added.

The show first aired in 2001 and garnered millions of viewers who keenly watched the supermodels walk the runway in luxury and sparkly lingerie sporting gigantic wings and six-inch heels. The show even had musical performances by superstars including Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, The Weekend and Selena Gomez but has been suffering a drop in viewership over the past couple of years. Some of the top models including Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Adrianna Lima, Karlie Kloss and others also walked the runway for the brand for a couple of years.

The show also garnered negative attention when Ed Razek the marketing officer of the brand made comments about casting plus size and transgender models for the show. Referring to the size od models, Razek, in an interview with Vogue said, “So, it’s like, why don’t you do 50? Why don’t you do 60? Why don’t you do 24? It’s like, why doesn’t your show do this? Shouldn’t you have transsexuals on the show? No. No, I don’t think we should. Because the show is a fantasy. It is a 42-minute entertainment special.”
