Fashion is an ever-changing field and all designers seem to be keeping up with it in their own ways. Shriya Som is one such name who has managed to stay ahead of the times by incorporating her own style into the new trends. She showcased her latest collection at the Lakme Fashion Week held recently where Lisa Haydon walked as the showstopper for her.

In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, the designer talks about all things fashion.

Her summer line is all about ruffles and raffia with new age silhouettes that give all her garments an offbeat look. The blue hues mixed with the symphony of radical elements in this summer resort collection give tropical and boho vibes. When asked about her inspiration behind the line, Shriya quips, "The line is inspired by the free-spirited and boho ideologies of the tropics. The colours and elements from the ocean can be seen as a motif throughout the collection." the silvery blue fabrics that have embroidered sequins echoes of oceans and gives off winter goddess vibes.

But with a collection so vast and detailed, is Shriya believes that there are a few pieces that will definitely leave a mark. "A toss up between our classic ruffle dresses and our raffia embroidered bridal wear in peachy and blue tones," are the pieces she thinks people should watch out for in this collection. But with trends changing almost every day, how does she manage to keep up with them? The designer clearly knows how to play the game and is constantly updating herself with street style! "I stay informed by researching street styles to see how we could mix high-end fashion into everyday life. I try to say clued on to the changing landscape of fabrics and textures that are moving towards more sustainable and eco-friendly options," she explains confidently.

Since the designer is known for her bridal wear, we are inquisitive on knowing her take on what brides should have at all times. "Double-sided tape and a sewing kit, just to be prepared," she says smartly. When it comes to colours, she believes that black will always be in style no matter the trend or season. But when it comes to trends, which is the one trend that she thinks brides should sport this season, we are curious to know. "Offbeat and edgy bridal wear. A biker jacket on a classic lehenga would be my pick," she says before signing off.
