The best part about being an Indian is that one never runs out of reasons to celebrate. While for everyone around the globe, January is the time to get back to work and usually is low-lying; people in India have multiple festivals to celebrate. For all you guys who grew up watching Bollywood are definitely familiar with Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta’s romance filled Lohri song from Veer Zaara.

Lohri is a Punjabi festival celebrated in Hinduism and Sikhism. This fun filled festival is celebrated to mark the end of winter, the harvest of the rabi crop and to welcome the sun. The festival is celebrated in full power and grandeur on January 13th every year. The happy festival falls one day before Makar Sankranti. It’s all about dressing up, dancing and having the time of your life.

With Lohri just around the corner, we have come up with some celebrity inspired outfit ideas which will definitely make you stand out. This festival is also extremely special for the newly weds (expect some amazing looks from Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor and Neha Dhupia). While we eagerly wait for their pictures, here are some celebrities who’ve given us some incredible desi looks which will be perfect for Lohri.

If you’re a newly wed just like Priyanka Chopra we suggest you to go all colourful and opt for a floor length multi-hued outfit just like the desi girl

For all you young girls out there, pick an outfit just like Sara Ali Khan’s or Janhvi Kapoor’s which screams comfort, sass and style. Team it up with hair braids and juttis to give your attire that perfect Punjabi twist

Want to go the palazzo way? Kareena Kapoor Khan shows us just how to do it. Kohled eyes, glossy lips and pink cheeks is how your makeup should be

Wanting to fit in and yet not go OTT? Alia Bhatt comes to our rescue as the beauty opts for a pretty blush nude patiala with a heavy net dupatta. Keep your styling simple with minimal makeup and a black bindi

If you want to ditch your ethnic wear and yet look desi then just blindly follow Anushka Sharma’s style. The stunner opted for a breezy floral length dress and smartly styled it with a bindi and jhumkis to get in the groove

Take cues from Shilpa Shetty Kundra about modernising an ethnic outfit so effortlessly. Pick the outfit in pastel shades and go the heavy jhumki way.

Wanting your patiala co-ord set a fun twist then take some inspiration from Sonakshi Sinha’s fancy look

If you’re in the mood to look like a proper Sikhni then follow Karishma Kapoor’s and Soha Ali Khan’s style. A proper bun with bindis, jhumkas and the traditional patiala is the way to go

We are so sure that you’ll definitely have a better and clear idea of how to glam up this Lohri.
