2019 is singing its way into the new year and trends have been on a roll galore. Well, we had already told you way back in 2018 (yep, we are fast!) that sky-high hairstyle is going to be super big this year. Thanks to Ariana Grande who continues to be obsessed with this hairstyle even after chopping off her locks, this trend is going to be all over the place at least for a couple of seasons.

Not just a favourite amongst the celebrities but a huge hit with the luxury fashion houses too. We saw Grace Elizabeth sport the hairstyle on the runway when she walked for the Italian fashion house, Versace. We had also seen Kaia Gerber sport a similar hairstyle when she walked the runway for Valentino. While the hairstyle might look like rocket science, but we here at Pinkvilla have broken the hairstyle for you guys so that you can slay this look and bask in all the compliments.

Blow dry your roots in the direction of your ponytail

Chris Appleton the man behind Kim Kardashian West and Ariana Grande’s sky-high ponytails reveals that the first step is to blow dry the roots in the direction you want your ponytail to be in.

Make a half-up ponytail

Once all your hair is going in the same direction, use a comb to gather the top section of your hair. Make sure you comb it neatly so that there are no bumps. Use a small black rubber band to tie at the base where you want it to be.

Get the bottom half and add it to the half pony

The key reason to get the perfect sky-high ponytail is to divide the hair into two parts as it makes the entire hair way too smooth. Get the bottom half and add it to the upper half pony.

Use hooks to secure both the ponytails together

After you’ve brought both the ponytails together, secure it using elastic hooks so that they do not move off-centre. Just hold the ponytail in one hand and stick the hook to the bottom so that it is secured perfectly. Take a section of your hair to cover the elastic band and gel your hair near the rubber band so that there are no flyaways.

Kim Kardashian West has been sporting this hair trend a lot off late and as we all know that whatever Kim does becomes a massive trend instantly. Even fashion runways are seemingly obsessed with this ‘it’ beauty trend. From Chanel to Giambattista Valli to Fendi to name a few, we saw this trend all over the World across different fashion shows.

This trend is definitely a big nod to the happy 90s. Would we be seeing you sport this hairstyle? Comment below and let us know.
