Potatoes are a versatile vegetable. They are used in every other dish and taste different in every single one of them. The most famous being, french fries. French fries are the quintessential favourite food of all. Once you start, you cannot stop eating them, they are that addictive!

They are enjoyed by everybody and are the ultimate comfort food for most people. But one can get bored of eating the same old version for a long time and there ought to be some twist to it. So we have for you some interesting varieties of fries that are lip-smackingly good and that you gorge on at any given hour of the day.

Garlic and Chive baked fries

To make this version, simply season the sliced potatoes with some olive oil, black pepper, salt, chives and ground garlic in a bowl. Preheat the oven to 200 degree celsius and bake the potatoes for 20 minutes till they turn light brown. 

Curly fries

Cut the potatoes with a spiral cutter and refrigerate them in cold water for an hour. In a bowl, mix some refined flour, paprika, oregano, salt, black pepper and a cup of water to form a thick batter. Coat the potatoes in this batter and fry them in oil till they turn golden brown.

Peri-Peri fries

For Peri-Peri fries, simply fry the sliced potatoes as you normally would in oil and keep aside. Lightly roast cinnamon powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, oregano, sugar, black pepper powder in a pan along with some ground onion and garlic. Mix the potatoes in this and serve.


To make this Canadian variety of fries, put the potatoes in cold water and refrigerate for an hour. Then fry the potatoes in oil and keep aside. To make the gravy, prepare a mix of 1 tbsp cornflour and water and keep aside. In a pan, add some flour in some butter and add 1 cup of chicken broth. Now add the cornflour mix and cook it for 2-3 minutes till it begins to thicken. Season with salt and black pepper. Pour this gravy on the potatoes and top with black pepper and grated mozzarella cheese.

Cheese fries

To make these delicious and scrumptious cheese fries, bake the julienned potatoes at 200 degree celsius for 15 minutes. In a pan, add cheddar cheese, ¼ cup milk, ground garlic and onion and saute for a minute. Pour this on the baked fries and top with some paprika.
