While going about our day, we don’t really tend to notice the hours we spend sitting. Be it while working on the laptop, watching TV, reading and many more such activities. If you have a job, that requires you to sit for the most part of the day, then sitting less can be a challenge.

A sedentary lifestyle can shorten the life expectancy and cutting your sitting time in half, can increase your life expectancy significantly. Sitting for the most part of the day can increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases and affect metabolism. So we have for you some easy ways to reduce your sitting time and get up and get going!

1. Avoid taking the elevator and take the stairs wherever you can to get some physical exercise.

2. After eating your lunch, resist the temptation to sit or lounge around and go for a walk to improve digestion.

3. Do household chores to get some much-needed physical movement like cleaning the house or decluttering your room.

4. If you are working from home, then make it a habit to take regular breaks and stand up and stretch your body to prevent your muscles from getting stiff.

5. The easiest way to keep moving after regular intervals while working, is to get up, go to the kitchen and refill your glass of water every hour. 

6. While parking your vehicle at a destination, park it as far as you can from the destination to get a chance to cover the distance by walking briskly.

7. Dance is a fun way to get some exercise and to loosen those stiff muscles. So make it a habit to groove to your favourite tunes every day and avoid being a couch potato.
