When it comes to weight loss, it's one thing that everyone in the world is trying to do. Some people are trying to shed some extra kgs to fit in their favourite dress, while some are doing it to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Be it Keto, Paleo or Detox, we have tried it all. And now, as this year is coming to an end, some of us want to lose some weight quickly to fit in our favourite dress.

If you are someone who is trying to lose weight quickly, then I am sure you might've heard about intermittent fasting. But not many people can follow that. So how about you eat for 10 hours and fast for 14 hours? Well, as absurd as it sounds, it works on people who are on a weight loss spree. It means that if you have your first meal at 8 AM, then you'd need to consume your last calorie of the day by 6 PM.

Read below to find out how this diet works.

As per the study published in Cell Metabolism, researches invited overweight people and tracked their activity while they followed this approach for about three months. And during the 14 hours fasting period, the participants were encouraged to stay hydrated by consuming lots of water. All the participants maintained the time of their meals and sleep in an app. Anf after a while when their weight was checked, there was a 3 percent reduction in their weight and a 4 percent reduction in abdominal visceral fat.

During this process, the researchers didn't ask the participants to change their eating habits, they only changed their eating window. Not only weight loss, but the cholesterol and blood pressure levels of the participants also improved. There was also some reported improvement in sleep quality, and many of the participants reported more energy.

Satchidananda Panda and Taub who were a part of the research explained that "when you go into a fasting state, you start to deplete the glucose stores in your body and you start to use fat as your energy source. You can enter a low-grade state of ketosis. And once stored fat is fueling your body, that can lead to a good amount of weight loss."

This study was conducted with 19 people, and all the participants were overweight and had multiple diseases like cholesterol, elevated blood sugar levels and high blood pressure to name a few. It is not the first research to show that the timing of meals can make a difference to our waistlines. Many types of research in the past have indicated the same.
