Diwali which is one of the important festivals is celebrated with a lot of fervour and enthusiasm every year. During the 5-day festivities, we tend to go overboard and end up eating a lot of food items that are loaded with sugar, salt, and calories. Post Diwali, we later, complain about gastric, bloatedness, constipation, lethargy and heaviness. To avoid health issues and complains, one should detoxify the body. During the process, our liver is stimulated with various ways to flush out toxins from the body which gets build up after a lot of bingeing. 

With the help of detox, harmful depositions of toxins get eliminated from kidneys skin and intestines among others. It also improves our blood circulation and refuels it with nutrients. 1. Water and Detox drinks

If you are not a fan of these preparations then you can go for a glass of lemon water or a cup of green tea and soon your digestion, skin, metabolism and other health issues will improve. Also, make sure to drink 2-3 liters of water and say bye to extra fat and sugar.

2. Eat more fruits, veggies and light food

After having a lot of heavy and rich foods it is advisable to go for light food items such as Khichdi, Porridge and Soup among others and include more of fruits and veggies in diet as they will help to relax digestive system and also they loaded with many nutrients especially antioxidants which will help to clean your body and prevent oxidative stress done by free radicals.

3. Probiotics

Probiotics are the good bacteria that help to maintain good gut health and fight harmful bacteria. One can include yogurt, buttermilk, kimchi and kefir among others. Include probiotics and your gut will say thank you.

4. Avoid junk and processed food while you detox

During the Diwali, we often indulge in foodstuffs that is very oily, sugar and salt loaded, artificial colors, flavor and some of them may be prepared under poor hygiene. So, post the Diwali bingeing one should ideally say bye to processed food and outside junk food for a few days and meanwhile our body will flush out the junk and toxins. So, instead of that Dosas and Momos from Khau gali stick to Ghar ka Khana. 

5. Exercise

Working out is another great way to kick out the extra fats and toxins from the body. Simple cardio exercises will help you to sweat up and along with sweat a lot of toxins will get eradicated and the same will make you feel better.

6. Sleep

Diwali festival also calls for several parties and gatherings and for a few days duration as well as the quality of sleep are affected as we stay up till night. So, detox oneself by having sound sleep for good 8-9 hours and during the same, our body will recharge and rejuvenate by removing toxins from the body.

7. Honey and jaggery instead of sugar

Sugar, as we know, are empty calories and only does harm to our body as they hardly provide any nutrition. As we load up a lot of sweets during the five days of Diwali, ideally, post the same, one should reduce the amount of sugar as well as salt's intake.  And try and avoid desserts for a few days. If you crave something sweet go for fruits or include substitutes such as jaggery and honey.  They not only are great sugar substitute but also nutritious.
