Your diet and workout are tough but you follow through only to ensure that you have a fit and healthy body. But what happens when all your hard work is in vain because no matter what you do putting on weight is much easier than losing it. Every day you work hard and try to lose that flab, you burn calories and sweat it out in the gym and you watch what you eat and give yourself just one cheat day but it’s still not enough. The cause could be your metabolism. There are little things that you fail to notice that may be slowing down your metabolism and making weight loss a tough task. It’s important that you keep an eye out for these things and ensure that your metabolism works at its own pace and doesn’t slow down. But before that, you need to know what those things are. Here’s a list of things that are slowing your metabolism.

1. Your body requires a certain number of calories to run and if you watch your calories and consume much lesser than what your body requires it may slow down your metabolism so that your body can burn fewer calories and retain what it needs.

2. Protein helps our body digest food and burn calories but when your body lacks proteins it cannot run at its usual rate. This slows down your metabolism and burns calories at a much slower rate.

3. Sometimes people focus on diets but fail to work out. They just don’t have the time or perhaps they just don’t enjoy working out. When you manage your diet and calorie intake but fail to do anything to burn the calories your metabolism just doesn’t burn any calories.

4. Getting adequate rest is very important. When you don’t get enough rest your body is rendered incapable of remaining active during the day. Being active is what helps your body burn the calories you consume.

5. When you consume alcohol, your body focuses on breaking it down and burning the calories in it and it fails to burn the other calories that you consume. This increases the fat our body stores and leads to weight gain.
