Diet plays a vital role in our lives, and we are what we eat. Following a healthy diet not only helps us to stay in shape, but it also keeps all the diseases at bay. With the unhealthy and hectic lifestyle that we are leading, it's given that most of us have some or the other type of deficiency. When we talk about deficiencies, one such deficiency that not many know about is Vitamin A deficiency. Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin which is stored in the liver, and its daily requirements can be easily met from a healthy diet.

Vitamin A is a powerful antioxidant and plays a crucial role in the prevention of anaemia, building up a strong immune system and building a strong resistance power to fight infections by promoting healthy fat metabolism.

Two types of Vitamin A - one is preformed vitamin A, which is available in meat, fish, eggs and dairy products and other is provitamin A. Vitamin A deficiency can happen to anyone, but those at highest risk of deficiency are pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, infants and children.

Infections in the throat or chest, may also be a sign of vitamin A deficiency. So if you often suffer from chest or throat infection, then vitamin A supplements may help with respiratory tract infections.

Acne and breakouts:

Night blindness:

Severe vitamin A deficiency can lead to night blindness. So, it's advisable to see the doctor once you get diagnosed with vitamin a deficiency.
