Speaking of its nutritional profile, as per the United States Department of Agriculture, a 100-gram serving of prunes has around 240 kcal, 2.18 grams of protein, 7.1 grams of fiber and around 63.88 grams of carbs. Many of us must be knowing that they are great laxatives and helps to alleviate constipation, however, many don't know that it is one of the weight loss helpers. 

As per a study by the University of Liverpool, researchers have found that eating prunes can improve weight loss. Liverpool psychologist, Dr. Jo Harrold who led the research, said, "These are the first data to demonstrate both weight loss and no negative side effects when consuming prunes as part of a weight management diet. Indeed in the long term, they may be beneficial to dieters by tackling hunger and satisfying appetite; a major challenge when you are trying to maintain weight loss."

Aside from consuming just prunes to lose weight, one should follow some vital weight loss hacks as well including consuming fewer calories than you spend. FYI, a cup of cooked prunes has around 250 calories, so make sure to have a balanced diet accordingly. Prunes aid in weight loss because of their high fiber content. For the unversed, consuming high fiber food items helps to satisfy hunger and it also prevents bloating and constipation. However, make sure you increase the fiber intake gradually to keep side effects at bay.

Prunes are kind of versatile and can be added to any meal of the day. For example, for breakfast, you can add prunes to oatmeal or slice them add them to the pancakes. For lunch, you can add sliced prunes to the black bean and spinach salad for lunch.
