Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt to Sara Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, Pilates training is the latest fitness trend that the B-Town divas are obsessing over. We often see them getting papped post their pilates sessions and there’s absolutely no denying their love for it. Often a few videos have also been shared where we see our favourite divas stretching those muscles out. But, what exactly is pilates?


According to Mayoclinic, ‘Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements. Pilates emphasizes proper postural alignment, core strength and muscle balance. Pilates is named for its creator, Joseph Pilates, who developed the exercises in the 1920s.’

A Pilates exercise usually works on the core, strength and stability of muscles. It can be a great way to training to maintain a balanced weight while increasing flexibility and stability.


Does pilates help in losing weight?

Pilates is a great form of cardio. It can be a great substitute for usual cardio exercise like swimming or running. But if you are someone who loves pilates, make sure you maintain a regular exercise routine to help you in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Pilates is usually done on a Pilates apparatus called a Reformer. It looks like a bed frame with a sliding carriage and adjustable springs, or perhaps you've seen a type of trapeze table. But don't let those fancy apparatus fool you. You can also do some of these pilates exercises on a simple mat.
