Undoubtedly, to lose weight is quite easier in spring and summer than winters as we comparatively more active as well as the shining sun motivates us to go out and workout. However, come harsh months of winter, we hardly get motivated to eat clean or go for a workout. Also, as the temperature keeps going down, we feel hungry often and the temptation for hot chocolate and other processed food items (also it is the holiday season) is an all-time high.

During this season, we hardly do any outdoor activities, sweat less and eat more than usual and this backfires the weight loss regime as we keep piling more calories than we burn. So, yes, weight loss can be challenging during these months, however not impossible. During the season, there is an abundance of fresh veggies and seasonal fruits in the market, so go ahead and gorge on them instead of packed and ready to eat food.

2. Instead of hot chocolate go for herbal teas

Dehydration is often during winters and sometimes we think we are hungry but most of the time the same are signals of thirsty. So, make sure you hydrated well as it can put your metabolism for a toss. Instead of high-calorie drinks, one can sip on herbal teas such as green tea, black tea, chamomile tea, and oolong tea among others for rehydration and warmth. Herbal tea also curbs unwanted cravings.

3.  Eat low cal soup before a meal

As per a study which was conducted by Penn State University, eating a low- calorie soup before a meal can refrain from overeating. And overeating leads to more calories and calories which are not burned lead to fats in our body. The research showed that the participants who ate soup before lunch reduced their total calorie intake by around 20 percent in comparison to those who didn't consume soup. So, make sure you have low cal soup or broth before your lunch and dinner during winters.

4. Have protein-rich food items

Weight watchers should include more protein in their diet as it helps to boost metabolism, keep us full longer period of time and also regularises blood sugar levels as well. Also, it is very important to have good fats in the body for the ideal absorption of nutrients.

5. Include good fats rich food items more

Make sure you include monounsaturated, polyunsaturated based fats only in diet and one can get them from olives, almonds, avocados, walnuts, flax seeds, hemp seeds, grass-fed butter, and unrefined coconut oil among others.

Aside from these diet tips, make sure you take out some time for an indoor workout.  At least dedicate 20-30 minutes of your day for a rigorous session of yoga, dance, or pilates and say to the fats.
