Along with time, relationships are also changing. Social media and dating app relationships have changed drastically. Meeting new people and making new relationships has become much easier in today’s time. With social media and dating apps, dating trends have also changed. People have gone from writing love letters to sending ‘I Love You’ texts. Instead of keeping a picture of the partner in their wallet, people now keep their partner’s picture as the wallpaper. Instead of meeting people in parties through common friends, people now meet on Tinder and Bumble. The new dating trends can make things difficult and confusing. With changing times, dating trends and new dating behaviors, there are new words to describe them that help you understand these behaviors. Here’s a list of new dating behaviors explained.

1. Ghosting

When someone you’re dating suddenly disappears without any explanation or an official break up or closure. It is called ghosting when this person stops communicating with you and does not explain the reason behind this behavior.

2. Zombieing

When a person who ghosted you suddenly appears again after a few weeks or months. This person just randomly arises from the dead and starts texting you. This apes a zombie. So, it is called zombieing.

3. Bird Boxing

It comes from the Netflix series Bird Box. When someone is blind and doesn't pay attention to their partner's fault and how bad your partner is.

4. Bread-crumbing

This comes from the story of Hansel and Gretal. In the dating world, bread-crumbing means when someone leaves you hints that they’re interested but doesn't really feel that way. Such a person is simply leading you just for the fun of it.

5. Benching

Just like in a game there is that one player who is benched and is actually in the game but not in the game. Benching in dating terms means that a person may lead you on and make you believe that they are interested, but they don’t do anything about it. They keep you in their lives as an option for the future, as a backup.

6. Kitten-fishing

It is a lot like cat-fishing only lesser. It is when someone exaggerates their qualities or uses pictures from the past or heavily edited pictures. It's like saying a white lie. They don’t really lie, but they do deceive you.
