Feel those nervous jitters when you know you have to head out to meet that special someone you have dreamed of being for such a long time? We have all been there. Sometimes, going on a date can be as daunting as heading into battle. There are so many things to consider, so many rules to follow so many rules to break. While people around you are getting married and having babies, you are wondering what to do (and not to do) on the first date that will help you get there.

Talking about politics and religion

If these are topics you are passionate about, and area significant part of your life, why shouldn't you talk about it? Both of these have long been considered taboo topics but the truth of the matter is that if you can't see yourself be in a relationship with somebody with a different religious belief or political mindset as yours, then it should be spoken about. And if you do share a similar mindset with the other person, it will e a good topic of discussion.

Dressing up
This, we think is important. There's no need to go all out and sport a full-fledged suit or tuxedo, but you could dress appropriately. Men, think comfortable jeans and a nicely ironed tee with a pair of keds. Ditch the shorts and tee look unless you want to make it seem like you are completely disinterested in the woman. Women, there's no harm in wearing a nice top or dress. It is after all your first meeting which is going to create an everlasting impression.

Kissing on the first date

There are numerous debates about this topic as well. Apparently, kissing on the first date will mean that you are "desperate". Truth is, if you want to do it, who's to tell you to wait for later? It is a feeling and it is valid. So why deny it?

Pay the bill

There are way too many rules and debates on this topic in particular. At the end of the day, the safest bet is to split the bill. Rather than him or you paying the entire amount, the two of you can just pay half and make it a win-win situation.

Texting first

Post the date, it is only courtesy to let the other person know whether you had fun or not. And in today's day and age when it is so easy to communicate, it is almost insulting if the whole "text him the next day" or "wait 30 minutes before texting back" rules are followed.
