Headache is one of the common health issues that we all suffer from on a regular basis. The unbearable sensation can interrupt both personal and professional lives. There are various types of headaches such as tension, cluster and migraine among others.

1. Drink water or water-rich fruits 

One of the major reasons why you must be suffering from headache is dehydration. Yes, many do not know that headache is one of the signs of lack of water in the body. So, if you experience a headache, try and drink as much as water you can or go for water-rich fruits such as watermelon as rehydrating will relieve you from the pain.

2. Massage your temples

Massaging the temple area and forehead can help you to get some soothing. One of the best ways is, to use peppermint oil for massage as it helps to promote blood flow and thus leading to pain relief. Another method to massage your temples is with the help of ice. For the unversed, the artery which supplies to blood to the lining of the brain is behind bone at the temple area.  During a migraine, the lining gets inflamed, so ice will help to lower the temperature in the area and this can help to stop the throbbing sensation.

3. Drink coffee or ginger tea

Expansion of blood vessels can also be one of the reasons for headache. The caffeine content in coffee and ginger's anti-inflammatory properties can constrict the blood vessels and can alleviate the pain.

4. Get yourself a hot shower

A hot shower will help you to loosen up and relax the tensed muscles especially of the neck and back region. One can also add Epsom salt while bathing as the same also has a calming effect.

5. Eat a spicy dish

If you are experiencing a pain in the head region, then adding some spice to the meal can come to rescue. This may sound weird but as per studies, the addition of spice especially cayenne can help in the same as it is capsaicin and this ingredient controls pain perception.

6. Deep breathing, yoga and meditation

Quietening your mind and getting away from the focus from the pain is another smart hack. Also, make a sure to take a deep breath, especially when you are stressed or feel any pain as it is necessary to relax all the organs and muscles which are filled with tension. Practicing yoga too is excellent to deal with the headache.

7. Get adequate sleep

Many of us experience a headache due to lack of sleep as well. As per many studies, those who have six hours of sleep or less than that suffer from headaches more frequently and also the severity is high among them. So try and get at least 7-9 hour of sleep. Do not sleep more too as it can trigger headache as well.
