Antioxidants which are found in many easily available foods are helpful to fight the harmful molecules aka free radicals. These free radicals are generated when we eat too much processed food items, get stressed up, smoke cigarette and drink alcohol among others. And these free radicals lead to a state called oxidative stress and the same can damage your DNA, cells as well as can increase the risk of diseases such as heart ailments, type 2 diabetes and cancer among others.
