She is an established actress in the Tamil and Telugu film industry with three Filmfare awards to her name. With a diverse set of skills, she is also a singer. The actress has continued to charm the audience with her extreme dedication to health and fitness.

Let us find out what Shruti Haasan follows for her main diet and how she tries to remain positive and optimistic in her daily life.

What is your diet plan and tell us about the foods you eat in your regular meals?

I have a tendency to put on weight really easily and since I suffer from PCOS I have to be careful. But I have also realised over the years that I need to eat things that make me happy, but I just need to balance it with working out. I never overeat and that’s something that has really helped me. I think we tend to eat much more than it’s required for our sustenance, it sounds like a random thing to say, but it’s true. If we all just started to look at when did I actually get full, and how much do I push beyond that, then controlling my portions really helped me to feel light and happy with the food that I was having. As well as working out consistently with what I eat.

What are the goals you have set for the coming year to improve your overall health and well-being?

The important thing I realised is sleep because I suffered from insomnia from a very young age. I kind of prided myself on being a nocturnal creature which happens to people with insomnia, they try to glorify staying up late. But now I have meditative techniques, and I try to stick to a routine where I get those 8 hours of sleep. It makes me sound like an aunty but it's just so good for optimal functioning. I was one of those people who would pride myself on saying I am so good even with 5 hours, but it's only when I started forcing myself to get that complete graph of sleep that I have realised my productivity, positivity, and overall health has improved.

3 things you do every day to remain positive and optimistic

I practise gratitude every day before I sleep. I make sure that I say it out loud or say it in my heart, but I very much articulate everything that I am grateful for that day. It could be anything, I could be grateful for the lovely lunch I had, or the wonderful project I am on or for my family. For me, I found that the practice of gratitude every day has just changed my life. I also do a little prayer every morning. You could be religious or non religious but just a moment to start your day with something is very important. Thirdly, I try to write something that could be even two lines just to take myself out of the daily rigmarole of my life and to keep reminding myself to be creative. That helps too, concluded Shruti Haasan.
