Here are a few takeaways from Vidya Balan’s recent interview with Pinkvilla on the importance of breaks and inducing positivity in our lives.

What are the key learnings that you are going to take away from the pandemic?

“I hope we are at the end of the pandemic because I have just been reading that the numbers have gone up. And that means we have to be cautious until we get the vaccine. What the pandemic has taught me is to take nothing for granted. We all make these plans, we all imagine that we have control over everything in life. And then, a virus, I don’t know how small, can bring the world to a stop. So more than anything else, I don’t take anything for granted," says Vidya Balan.

How do you remain positive during tough times?

“I am someone who tends to pray, so that gave me a lot of strength and I kept counting my blessings. I had nothing to complain about during the pandemic, but I know that loads of people have lost loved ones, jobs, and left cities to travel to their hometowns. How important is taking breaks for you and how often do you take them in between shoots?

“Breaks are very important as they nourish the soul. I am someone who takes weekly breaks during the shoots. I take time in between projects too. It’s not just about a mental break, you also need a physical break, just disconnect from whatever you are doing. Eat as much you want to, sleep as much you want to, spend time with loved ones, travel, read and listen to music, maybe exercise because you are not able to focus on yourself while working. I have learned over time about the importance of my time. It makes me feel so fresh and energetic when I do that. I think that time is very important, especially for women who have so many responsibilities.”
