High blood pressure is one of the many diseases affecting people all across the globe. If left untreated or uncontrolled, hypertension can increase the risk of stroke and other heart diseases. What’s worrisome is that there are no visible symptoms of high blood pressure.

Did you know herbal teas could also help boost your health and significantly lower down your blood pressure? According to a study in theJournal of Nutrition, hibiscus tea has anthocyanins and other antioxidants that may help blood vessels resist damage that can cause them to narrow.

But that’s not all. Hibiscus tea has many other benefits too. It helps reduce blood sugar levels, keeps your liver healthy, helps with menstrual cramps, aids digestion, keeps you stress-free and is a good addition to your weight loss diet. A good source of Vitamin C, minerals and flavonoids, it not only is healthy but delicious too!

Wondering how to make it? Prepare it with either fresh or dried flowers. A bright red colour brews up and infuses a tart flavour to the drink. How many cups do you need to drink to get the health benefits? Researchers say three cups a day are good enough. If you don’t like drinking too many hot cups of tea, refrigerate and taste hibiscus iced tea. Don’t forget to steep it for six minutes before sipping it hot or cold.

If hibiscus tea isn’t available, you can also go for green tea. As per a study in The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, adding green tea to your diet helps in a significant reduction to blood pressure. However, make sure you’re adding it to the right kinds of food that boost your health. Otherwise, you could be drinking tea and still harming your health.
