Ketogenic diet aka Keto diet is a never-ending fad and many people are resorting to the same for weight loss. If you are following this diet, then you have to eat low to no carbs and increase the intake of fats and proteins. When you follow a keto diet, our body starts utilizing fats (ketones) as the primary source of fuel for energy over carbs (glucose) as the carbs' content is the lowest in the body. When you just eat fats and not carbs our body is constantly burning fats and the state is known as ketosis which leads to weight loss. The diet has received a lot of flak, but many studies have claimed how low-carb-high-fat diet can lead to weight loss and helped to improve overall health. 

Speaking about the foods that one can eat if following the diet, one can go for protein and fat-rich foods such as chicken, fish, pork, eggs, butter, oil, cheese and nuts among others. And talking about the veggies, read on to know which are the ones that have very low to zero carb content in them.

1. Broccoli
Broccoli is one of the most versatile vegetables out there. One can either steam it or roast or saute it and make a yummy dish of it.

2. Spinach
Spinach which is commonly known as Paalak is another great source of vitamins and minerals. One can have it raw by using in a salad or have it by making soup.

3. Cucumber
Cucumber is another commonly found veggie which is good for snacking. One can have it by adding it to a salad.

4. White mushrooms
White mushrooms have a very low amount of carbohydrates. One can roast or saute them and can be an ideal addition in almost any dish.

5. Eggplant
Eggplant is another keto-approved veggie. One can use it in lasagna or saute some cube with extra virgin oil and seasoning and you are good to go.

6. Zucchini
This is another keto staple that can be eaten by roasting or grilling.

7. Bell peppers
Bell peppers are another commonly found veggie and there are several keto recipes of them available. 

8. Cabbage
This vegetable has around 3 gm net carbs (per cup) and we Indians have a lot of recipes of cabbage.

9. Cauliflower
Cauliflower too can be used for many dishes and many yummy recipes are available of this veggie.

10. Green Beans
One can eat them by steaming, roasting or sauteing. Add bacon to it and you are good to go.

For the unversed, vegetables which grow below the ground which are beets, onions, potatoes, carrots and turnips among others tend to have more carbs in them. Veggies which are high in starch should also be avoided but one can go for the water-rich ones as they have low carbs in it.
Basically, vegetables which have the lowest amount of carbs are mostly the non-starchy ones and are typically greens with high water content and are keto-approved. Apart from being low in carbs, they are also high in other nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and fiber among others.
