Losing pregnancy weight can be stressful along with taking care of your child and adjusting to the new routine. Many women tend to forget to take care of their body after pregnancy. It is important to be in a healthy shape. Most women gain more than the recommended amount of baby weight during pregnancy. This excess weight gain is not good for your body. Losing pregnancy weight in the right way is equally important. Starving yourself will not only harm you but also your baby’s breastfeeding routine.

Here are 7 tips to lose pregnancy weight faster:

Don’t go on a crash diet

A crash diet is a very low-calorie diet which helps in losing large amount of weight faster. You must never go on a crash diet after pregnancy. The body needs nutrients to heal and recover. On the other hand, when you are breastfeeding you require more calories. A crash diet will leave you tired.

Choose Breastfeed

Breastfeed your baby as much as you can. Breastfeeding helps to reduce the size of the uterus and bring it back to its normal size. This makes your hip section toned. One study showed that women who breastfeed lose more weight than women who do not.

Breastfeed your child

Include liquid in your diet

Make sure you drink at least 8-10 glasses of water daily. Keeping yourself hydrated will flush out all the toxins from your body and improve your metabolism. Improved metabolism will manage your weight effectively. Include different types of liquid in your diet like smoothies, juices, milkshake and soup.

Exercise

It is hard to get back to exercising with a newborn to look after. Start with basic exercises. Go for a walk when you get a chance to. Try swimming, jogging or yoga. You can also start with basic exercises at home. Including some form of exercise to your daily routine will loosen up your body and keep you fresh.

With new responsibilities and so much to do, it is difficult to stay calm. Make efforts to reduce stress. Stress can disturb your weight loss goal. Take time out for yourself. Ask your partner to look after the baby while you are relaxing. Do something that makes you happy. This will reduce stress.

Sufficient sleep

Well, it is difficult to get straight 8 hours of sleep with a newborn but relax in the day. Ask your partner to help you or other family members to look after the baby. Take a quick nap while your baby naps. Make adjustments to complete your sleep. Lack of sleep can negatively affect your weight.

  • Avoid added sugar and refined carbs
  • Stock up on healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, nuts etc
  • Choose healthy proteins

Eat healthy

  • Eat foods high in fiber
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol
  • Eat healthy desserts like yogurt whenever you crave a dessert
