When it comes to the maintenance of our clothes and shoes, we often discard things that get a bit worn out and a bit spoilt. We either give it to someone or throw it away. And then go on a shopping spree to buy the same thing all over again. This process not only takes up our time, but we also end up spending money unnecessarily. But what if we tell you that you don't need to spend money to buy new clothes when you increase the longevity of that favourite cardigan or sneakers of yours.

Read below to find out some amazing life-saving hacks that'll help you take care of your wardrobe favourites and will save you money as well as time. These hacks can be used by anyone, and with winters round the corner, you cannot help but try these hacks at home.

Love white sneakers? Here's how you can keep them white for a longer time:

Keep your white sneakers clean with vinegar, baking soda and a toothbrush. Blend hot water, white vinegar and baking soda and spread this on your sneakers with a cloth to remove stains and patches. Use a toothbrush to clean the hard to reach places.

Is your lingerie getting too rough after a couple of washes? Here's how you can soften them:

Use conditioner to soften your lingerie. Add a teaspoon of conditioner to warm water, and soak your lingerie in it, then rinse normally.

Want your clothes to smell good all day long? Here's how you can achieve the freshness:

Take a 1/4th cup of vodka and 3/4th cup of water and spray it on your clothes. As they dry, the smell will evaporate too. It is gentler on your clothes than any other chemical.

Stinking shoes can be a downer. Here's how you can get rid of the smell:

Use baby powder to keep the stink away. Don't sprinkle the powder while wearing them, do it when you are not wearing the shoes, so that the powder can absorb the odour in them.

Bought a smaller shoe size? Don't worry, here's how you can fix it:

You can stretch your shoes by wearing thick socks and blow-drying them. So if your shoes are a little tight, don't get it exchanged or waste it, use this hack instead.

With winter around the corner, all of us removing our winter clothes from the storage. If your winter woollens have some smell, then don't worry use some baking soda:

Put them in a ziplock bag with a spoonful of baking soda for a couple of days and the smell will be gone.
