Losing weight and getting rid of abdominal fat is quite tough and can take a longer period of time but you should not get discouraged and ignore the same as that bulging belly can be dangerous to your health. Some belly fat is normal but if you have too much, then you have to get rid of the extra fat around your waist as the same is linked to many diseases such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, dementia and cancer among others.

1. Avoid sugar

Sugar is one of the most unhealthy food items. So, if you want to eliminate a few inches around your waistline then avoid including sugar in your diet. So, say bye to sugar-sweetened dishes and beverages, sodas, fruit juices and other high-sugar sports drinks and soon you will see the result.

2. Exercise

Do at least 30 minutes of exercise for around 5 days a week. If you are not into gymming or working out then go for brisk walking or running as that will make you sweat and breathe harder. Those who follow workout sessions indulge in more of resistance training aka weight lifting aka strength training. Also, a combination of weight training and aerobic exercise is the most beneficial.

3. Healthy food only

Bingeing on junk food, trans fat, carbs, and fried items is a strict no-no if you want to shed that abdominal fat. Make sure you have a high-protein, low-carb, good fats and fiber-rich diet (especially viscous fiber) and keep a track on what you are eating. 

4. Avoid stress and sleep well

The love handles could be because of the imbalance of cortisol, a stress hormone. As per studies, people who sleep less than five hours at night gained more abdominal fat. So, manage your stress and address your sleep needs to bid buy to those not-so-great-looking chubby middle.

5. Mindful eating

People sometimes eat more and end up having more calories then the body requires. Keep a journal and track the macronutrients intake and how much calories you are eating as mindless bingeing is harmful to your belly.
