Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a movie about a kingdom that faces a big challenge when its king, T'Challa (played by Chadwick Boseman), passes away due to an unknown illness. His mother Ramonda (played by Angela Bassett) becomes the ruler, and T'Challa's sister Shuri (played by Letitia Wright) is struggling with the loss of her brother. Six months later, Ramonda attends a United Nations conference where many countries criticize Wakanda for not being cooperative and not sharing its vibranium resources. Ramonda makes it clear that the valuable metal will not be given to other countries for harmful purposes. She also reveals that Wakanda's facility was attacked. At the same time, the USA discovers some traces of vibranium in the Atlantic Ocean. A group of researchers goes to a location to extract vibranium using the machine invented by a scientist. However, strange creatures appear and attack the ship, killing everyone onboard. Namor, the leader of these creatures, secretly visits Wakanda and meets with Ramonda and Shuri. He warns them about the USA's plan to extract vibranium and tells them to hand over the scientist who built the machine or Wakanda will face consequences. Shuri and Okoye travel to the USA and team up with CIA agent Everett K Ross to locate the scientist. They later discover that the scientist is a young student named Riri Williams. Shuri and Okoye manage to locate Riri and convince her to come to Wakanda. However, their plans are interrupted when the CIA arrives on the scene. The trio manages to escape the CIA, but they are soon ambushed by Namor and his army. Okoye fights valiantly, but unfortunately, Namor proves too strong for her. The chief captures Shuri and Riri and takes them to his underwater kingdom, Takolan. Namor reveals that he intends to kill Riri because he fears that the outside world will once again come looking for vibranium and harm his kingdom. The rest of the story revolves around what happens next.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a movie that pays tribute to Chadwick Boseman while addressing the elephant in the room: the loss of the lead actor. The first half hour is emotional, as it allows the characters and fans alike to grieve T'Challa and Boseman. The film balances grief and storytelling without letting one overshadow the other. Letitia Wright and Angela Bassett give stellar performances, and Tenoch Huerta's performance as Namor is welcome. The introduction of Talokan, an unknown underwater civilization, is represented well. The MCU humor is present throughout, with Danai Gurira's Okoye and Winston Duke's M'Baku providing laughs. Dominique Thorne's Ironheart/Riri Williams and Lupita Nyong'o's Nakia make for a great supporting cast. The final battle sequence has its moments but is not the highlight. A creative decision to not connect the movie to the MCU Phase 4 storyline allows the film to stand on its own. The Black Panther reveal is bittersweet. While the ensemble cast and balanced storytelling are strong points, the 2 hours and 41 minutes duration may be felt heavily by casual MCU fans.
