Age Is Just A Number, But Only For Male Actors!

Aamir Khan was seen grooving on a song with Nora Fatehi. This song will be part of his upcoming film Koi Jaane Na. His rigid dance moves made me question about how differently we treat actors and actresses of nearly same age. When Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had romanced Ranbir Kapoor in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, many didn't think twice before judging her.

If you see, the three Khans- Shah Rukh, Salman, Aamir and other actors like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan etc. have been portraying youthful characters while they are in their fifties. They are dancing around and romancing actresses who are half their age; while actresses of the similar age range like Padmini Kolhapure, Renuka Shahane, Madhuri Dixit, Juhi Chawla, Archana Puran Singh etc. have already exited this industry, playing minimalistic roles or have changed their career.

We have noticed this pattern where young male actors can't dominate over these actors who are in their fifties, but a twenty years old female debutant may easily overshadow experienced actresses. Why do we accept this? Inequality in wages and screen time has been prevailing since years, but how do people tend to believe that actresses have a short lived career as a main lead in Bollywood! Do we, as an audience, play a huge role in this system?
