An Analysis of Varun Dhawans Movie Choices

So after his recent fall with the remake of Coolie No. 1, I was curious to look at all the movies he's done to attempt to analyze the consequences of his movie picks. Not counting his debut, SOTY, because he didn't really "pick" that movie.

Main Tera Hero- content wise, not the best movie. But it got him what he wanted, attention and a hit film, so it was a basic newcomer move.

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania- I think this is the film that sort of said "Varun Dhawan has arrived". Him and Alia were great in it, film was good too.

Badlapur- bold choice, but an important one to prove that he could do other roles except the comedy kind.

Dilwale, Dishoom, Badrinath Ki Dulhania & Judwaa 2- all 4 good films, in which he acted well and true to himself, so his career was stable.

October- another bold choice for VD, he tried to break the masala stereotype he developed over the last 4 films with this serious one, and he did so successfully.

Kalank- now this is when his career graph starts dropping. I'm sure it was unexpected to him too, because Kalank was expected to be a hit. But after Kalank tanked, so did VD.

Street Dancer 3D- another very average film, it made a decent box office collection, but nothing exciting otherwise.

And last but not the least, Coolie No. 1- he tried to bring back that masala character of his that the audience loved, but it just did not work. This movie was probably his worst choice.

Varun really needs to step his game up now with his next release, in my opinion, he has the talent he just needs to be more selective with his movie choices.
