Bollywood Celebrities Who Refused To Accept The Award

1) Shashi Kapoor :- Shashi Kapoor was not only a talented actor but also film producer. Coming from the first family of Bollywood, he has contributed 50 years in this industry. He has received 4 National awards and 2 Filmfare awards. He is the only actor who has refused a National award, reason being he believed that his performance in ‘Dharma Putra' for which he was given the National award wasn’t great enough for the award.

2) Lata Mangeshkar :- She is also known as the nightingale of Bollywood. She was listed in ‘The Guinness Book of Records’ as the most recorded artist in history. Lataji has won several awards and honours, including Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Dadasaheb Phalke Award etc. But she once denied accepting her first Filmfare award. The reason may sound a little weird but its true she refused taking the trophy because it was designed as a lady that didn't have any clothes on. The Filmfare team didn't disappoint the legendary singer and redesigned the trophy and then gave it to her.

3) Kangana Ranaut :- Kangana who is always in news for some or the other reason or we should say controversies. She is known for having an attitude of disliking the award shows. Therefore, she is never a part of any award function but was invited to accept her award for the Best Actress Award at the Melbourne Film Festival, for her very successful movie, ‘Tanu Weds Manu’.

4) Prithviraj Kapoor :- Prithviraj Kapoor who is a pioneer of Indian theatre and of the hindi film industry, who started his career as an actor in a silent era of Hindi cinema. He was the patriarch of the Kapoor family of Hindi films. Recipient of Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his amazing performance in movies. He had once refused to take the award at the Filmfare for the Best Supporting Actor in the movie ‘Mughal-E-Azam’ as he believed that he deserved an award for the Best Actor.

5) Salim Khan :- Salim Khan hindi cinema’s greatest screenwriter, an Indian Film actor and also producer. His films are among the highest grossing Indian film of all time, including ‘Sholay’ (1975) which is also considered to be one of the greatest Indian films of all time. He refused the Padma Shri in 2015 because he believes that his contributions deserved higher honor than a Padma Shri.
