'Chernobyl': A show that shows the cost of lies

HBO's 'Chernobyl' is one of the best shows in recent times which tells a real-life tragedy. It chronicles one of the biggest nuclear disasters in history and gives a detailed account of its impact. Most of the cast consists of relatively unknown faces which makes them blend into characters even more. While the makers have taken some creative liberties, the overall show remains faithful to the actual event. In a historical drama series, one wouldn't expect suspense, thrill, or horror. 'Chernobyl' successfully delivers all three in the right portions while a sense of helplessness prevails throughout the story. The show is a cautionary tale about greed and human nature in general, about our responses in the time of crisis. How system and state often fail to prevent such catastrophes for their own interests.
