Did Kangana Ranaut go too far this time? What do YOU think?

It is no secret that Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is extremely outspoken when it comes to her thoughts and ideals. She is not afraid to call people out when she thinks they’re wrong. But, has she gone too far this time?

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the new web series “Tandav” featuring Saif Ali Khan and Dimple Kapadia, among others. The makers of the series are being asked to explain scenes where they seem to be insulting Hindu Gods. Kangana Ranaut went on Twitter and sent out a tweet regarding the controversy. Part of her tweet read, “time to take their heads off” – she was talking about the makers of the series. The tweet has now been deleted, and Twitter temporarily restricted her account to “read-only”. When asked why they restricted her account, Twitter said, “you may not engage in the targeted harassment of someone, or incite other people to do so." As soon as her account was re-instated, Kangana lost no time in tweeting at Twitter, daring them to delete her account.

She stated that deleting her account would not stop her wrath, and she would come after them if they did. Some people are supporting her on Twitter and stating that when she said “take their heads off,” she didn’t mean it literally. Her supporters claim it is just another way of saying that the makers should be scolded and criticized. While she has every right to speak out against the series, and share her opinions, I think she went too far this time.

As a celebrity and influencer, it is important that she chooses her words carefully. Due to her status, her words have an effect on people, and so she has a responsibility to be a good role model. There are more graceful ways to criticize other people’s work, without implying violence.

What do you think? Do you think her words were justified? Or should she have been more careful with her verbiage?
