How Bollywood Has Inspired Popular Baby Names

Indians and their love for Bollywood cannot be compared to anything. They are so involved in films that they take their favourite actors and characters home. Crazy fans have been naming their beloved children after celebs. I have always found these people in every academic year in my school or college:

Rahul: There are two reasons for the name's popularity. First can be that this was the name of Shah Rukh Khan's character Rahul in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. The other reason can be that Indians love Rahul Dravid.

Karan: This came in as a 'cool guy name'. Not Karan Johar but his bestfriend Shah Rukh Khan's film Karan Arjun might be the reason for the name's popularity. If not this, then definitely Hindu legend of Mahabharat has inspired this name.

Arjun: Just like the name Karan, Arjun might be inspired from the film Karan Arjun or the epic of Mahabharat.

Raj: Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayengey ruled hearts and created an era of romance. In addition to this, the film inspired a pool of babies named of 'Raj'.

Anjali: Just like Rahul from KKHH and K3G, the name Anjali started trending as Kajol played Anjali in both the films.

Sakshi: This one was an exception and not exactly related to Bollywood but deserves to be mentioned. When Sakshi Tanwar became famous for her character 'Parvati' in Ekta Kapoor's TV show, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, many named their daughters as 'Sakshi'. It's an exception in this list as the actor's name was popularized than the character's name.

Do you know other names that were inspired by films and shows?
