Is Kangana Ranaut’s Film on Indira Gandhi Going to be Different Than THESE 5 films?

Kangana Ranaut recently announced about her next big project as producer and actor. The film will be based on India’s first female Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. The actresses clarified that the film won’t be a biopic. However, there have been other films made on Indira Gandhi in the past:

Aandhi (1975): The film’s story revolved around Indira Gandhi and her husband Feroze Gandhi. The film was directed by Gulzar and was banned as Indira Gandhi’s government was in power. After she lost the next elections, the ban was lifted.

Kissaa Kursee Kaa (1978): This was a political satire based on Indira Gandhi and her son Sanjay. Even this film was banned, and all its prints were confiscated by the government during the emergency.

Amu (2005): Based on Shonali Bose’s novel of the same name, this film depicted the anti-Sikh riots of 1984 and Indira Gandhi’s assassination.

Madras Café (2013): This doesn’t exactly talk about her but revolves around her son’s assassination.

Indu Sarkar (2017): This film depicted the oppression of press during the emergency period and the aftermath.

Let's see what Kangana has in the box for us.
